On AuPairMatch you can see other au-pairs near your host family – and everyone who will be moving to your area in the coming weeks. It’s free, and you can use it even if you found your host family through another platform.

Why we built this

Finding a family is quick here – and then the real year begins. The first weeks are exciting: new family, new city, new language, lots to discover. Most au-pairs have a great time, and the host family usually becomes part of that quickly. They are just a good bit older than you – often ten to twenty years – and have their own daily routine with the children.

For Saturday evenings you’ll eventually want people your own age. Some find that easy, others take longer – there’s nothing unusual about that. What stands out is that no platform offers anything for it: Others write guides and then send you to Facebook groups, Meetup or language‑exchange apps. We built it in instead.

How it works

1. You tell us where you’re going. City and the period of your placement – that’s all we need.
2. You see who’s there. Other au-pairs within the radius of your host family, sorted by distance.
3. And who’s arriving soon. The second tab shows those still on the move: anyone who registers their placement, lists the city and start date – if the stay begins within the next eight weeks in the same area, the person appears here. You can message each other before you arrive. If you’re new, this is often the more valuable tab: you start together.
4. You write to whomever you want. Directly, without detouring through a foreign group.

What we DO NOT do

It’s important that you know what will be visible from you:

• We never show your address. Others see the city of your host family and roughly how far you are – whether you’re in the same city or about twenty‑five kilometres apart. No coordinates, no street, no exact distance that could be calculated.
• We never show the name of your host family. Their details are private.
• You decide whether you are visible. A toggle in the settings, switchable at any time. Without it you see no one and no one sees you.
• Your last name stays with us. Others always see only your first name – in the list, in chat, everywhere.
• You are visible beforehand, but without a location. Before you register a placement, you appear only to au-pairs looking for the same destination country – with first name, photo, age and shared interests. City and distance are added only after you register a placement.

You may have found your host family on another site. That’s perfectly fine – and you can still use the community. Create a free profile, enter where you’re going, and you’ll see the same people as everyone else. For au-pairs AuPairMatch is permanently free, with no strings attached.

Honestly: We are a new platform, and in some cities you will initially find few or no others. That’s why there is the second tab with arrivals – and why it’s worth joining early rather than waiting for someone else to start.

For host families: why this matters to you

An au‑pair who has peers in the city comes home more relaxed. Same‑age friends are a different dynamic than the host family, and no one expects you to replace that. When your au‑pair meets others who are going through the same experience, it relieves pressure on your relationship – and the year with you becomes truly enjoyable instead of just functional.

You can help: Register your placement and confirm it. Then your au‑pair will appear in their area and find the others.
