Cookies
Our website uses cookies. These are small text files that your web browser stores on your device. Cookies help us make our offering more user‑friendly and secure.
Contact Form
If you send us inquiries via the contact form, your information from the inquiry form, including the contact details you provide there, will be stored by us for processing the request and for any follow‑up questions.
5. Registration and User Account
You can register on our website to use additional features. The data you enter are used solely for the purpose of using the specific service you have registered for.
6. Social‑Media Integration (TikTok)
For publishing our own content on our TikTok channels we use the TikTok Login Kit and the TikTok Content Posting API. Authorized members of the AuPairMatch team connect only our own TikTok accounts and upload video drafts. We only access basic profile information of the linked account (user.info.basic) to show which account is connected. Apart from the OAuth tokens required for uploading, we do not collect or store any personal data of TikTok users. The tokens can be revoked at any time.
7. Au‑pair Community
As an Au‑pair you are, after completing onboarding, by default visible in the Au‑pair community – in two stages. Even without a registered placement you appear to Au‑pairs looking for the same destination country as you; there they see your first name, profile picture, age and the interests you share with the respective person. Once you add a placement, the city of your host family, an approximate distance indication (e.g., “same city” or “under 25 km”) and the trust level of the placement are added. Your address, exact coordinates and the name of your host family are never displayed.
As long as you are visible, other visible Au‑pairs can message you without any further requirement; the otherwise necessary mutual reservation is omitted between Au‑pairs. Host families do not see the community.
You can disable visibility at any time during onboarding or under Settings → “Au‑pair Community”. Then you are not shown to anyone, you see no one, and you can no longer be contacted this way. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) f GDPR. Our legitimate interest: Au‑pairs travel alone to a foreign country, and a way to find peers nearby makes the stay safer and the platform more valuable for both sides. We have weighed this interest against yours and kept the scope deliberately small: no last name, no coordinates, no host‑family name, and an always‑accessible switch. You may object to the processing at any time under Art. 21 GDPR – the switch is precisely this objection and takes effect immediately. When you end a placement, we delete the associated location details.
8. What Other Users See About You
Other users always see only your first name – while browsing, in chat, in meeting proposals and in calendar invitations. Your last name is never shown to other users. We still collect and store it: for the contractual relationship with you, for support, for moderation and for information we may be legally required to provide. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) b and c GDPR.
Visible to other logged‑in users are also the details you enter in your profile – profile picture, age, nationality, languages, interests, region and your free‑text fields. What is displayed in the Au‑pair community is described above under number 7. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) b GDPR, because a placement does not work without a visible profile; you control the content and can change or pause your profile at any time.
