AuPairMatch in 3 Steps

AuPairMatch connects au-pairs and host families the smart way — no agencies, no middlemen. Here we explain in detail how the platform works.

Step 1: Create Your Profile

Registration takes just 2 minutes. Choose your role (au-pair or host family) and fill out your profile:

  • Personal details: Name, age, nationality, location
  • Languages: Which languages do you speak and at what level?
  • Availability: When and for how long are you looking?
  • Preferences: Desired destination country, childcare experience, pets, smoker/non-smoker
  • Photos and video intro: A personal video significantly increases your chances

The more complete your profile, the better your matches. Our quality score evaluates completeness and highlights well-filled profiles.

Step 2: Smart Matching

Our matching algorithm considers 10 factors to show you the best suggestions:

  1. Language compatibility: Shared languages and levels
  2. Availability: Overlap of desired time periods
  3. Location: Desired destination country and region
  4. Visa compatibility: Is a visa possible and realistic?
  5. Experience: Childcare experience and age of children
  6. Lifestyle: Smoker/non-smoker, pets, diet
  7. Profile quality: Completeness and recency
  8. Activity: How active is the user on the platform?
  9. Mutual interest: Has the other side already discovered you?
  10. Reviews: Feedback from previous matches

Each factor is weighted to produce a match score. You see your best matches first.

Step 3: Discovery and Swiping

In the Discovery area, you see profiles that match you. You can:

  • Like: Show interest in a profile
  • Skip: Not the right fit? Move on to the next
  • Filter: Refine your search by country, language, time period, and more

When two users like each other, a match is created — and communication can begin.

Step 4: Messaging and Video Calls

After a match, you can chat directly in AuPairMatch. Our integrated messaging offers:

  • Text messages with read receipts
  • Integrated video calls (no Zoom or Skype needed)
  • Protected communication — no private data needed

We recommend always having at least one video call before making a decision. This way you get to know each other personally and avoid surprises.

Step 5: Proposal and Agreement

When you've agreed, you can use the proposal system to formalize your arrangement. You define:

  • Start and end date
  • Pocket money and benefits
  • Working hours and free time
  • Special agreements

The proposal system helps you put everything important in writing — transparent and fair for both sides.

What Happens Next?
